Slow week
Sorry about so few posts lately, there really just isn't that much going on this weekend. Look for plenty of shows next week including some lovely ladies showing at The Highland Inn, a SCAD show at Youngblood and a cult film inspired show at MINT. In the meantime check out this review that I wrote for Burnaway.org of Youngblood Gallery's current exhibit "Birds of a Feather." Its a great show and this is your last weekend to see it.

Club Awesome Album Art
Check out the cover art on the newest release by local indie pop quartet Club Awesome. The art for Dynamos was done by secretly local artist Brian Dettmer. As far as I know he doesn't show in Atlanta but lives and works here, creating intricate masterpieces out of old books. Here is his page on wikipedia and his flickr page.

PSST!3 March 18th at The Plaza
PSST!3 is a collaborative film project of 17 films made by 51 teams of Designers, Directors, Animators and Composers.
The mission of PSST is to produce original short films through the collaboration of Designers, Directors, and Animators. Each film is comprised of three sections produced by three different teams: the beginning, middle & end. This process is the whole idea behind PSST! – a technique derived from the Dadaist game of Exquisite Corpse and the children’s game Telephone and applied to the arts of motion graphics, animation and film-making.
March 18th, 7:30 at The Plaza Theater

Two Favorites
The quarterly house party/art show from the Harold Group is going down this Saturday, March 14th at 411 Harold Ave in Chandler Park. You can expect art, great food, beer, and music all for a $5 donation.
Also, a creative and unique indie pop band from Athens called The Buddy System is playing at WonderRoot on Saturday as well. Check out this video below and imagine a band that plays one of those cartoons along with every song that they play. Some songs even have funny words. Amazing!

"Diet" by Dosa Kim
Dosa Kim is the first solo artist of the year for Beep Beep Gallery's year of solo shows and if he maintains the quality of his recent work, this exhibit will set quite a standard for seven other artists to follow. As one of the most distinct and prolific artists in Atlanta, I always look forward to Dosa's next step. "Diet" will explore the topics of consumption, materialism and obsession through the artist's angular and contrasted visions. Opens this Saturday, March 14th from 8-11 at Beep Beep Gallery.
