I don't know exactly what is going on with this, but I'll let you in on what I do know. Sons of the South is a coalition comprised of 13 (actually I think only 11 but it will be 13 eventually) emerging, semi-underground artists in the Atlanta, lowbrowish scene. As far as I know the list includes Dosa Kim, Tindel, Michi, Bethany Marchman, Rene Arriagada, Charlie Owens, Steven Dixey, Jason Murphy, BORN, Sam Parker, and Tyson McAdoo. Their print show this Friday (12/14) at the East Side Lounge will be the first showing under this title. Word is more events will pop up over the next year. This is something to watch.

The idea is that this will turn into a touring show, something potent enough to draw people from outside of the current scene and also get attention from other cities: "Hey, there is something going on in Atlanta." The sense I get is that Dosa is the main motivating force, but they're hiring the marketing girls from Wild Peaches to help with promotion. It can really happen; it might take some time to really take off, but the cogs are certainly falling into place.
